Textwalking Could Soon Be an Offence in New Jersey

Textwalking could soon be an offence in New Jersey
Times of India, 30 March 2016

Violators would face fines of up to $50 and 15 days’ imprisonment.

US lawmakers are hoping to ban people walking while they were distracted, including while texting.

The bill, which would bring the rules for walking along into line with drivers, and force pedestrians to make sure that they are concentrating on the path in front of them, would fine people who engage in “distracted walking”. People could even be imprisoned if they are using their phone while walking, under the new bill proposed by state assemblywoman in New Jersey.

Experts say distracted walking is a growing problem around the globe, as people of all ages become more dependent on gadgets for personal and professional matters. They also note pediestian deaths have been rising in recent years. 11% of all fatalities in 2005 involved pedestrians, but that number rose to 15% in 2014.

The rise in deaths coincide with states introducing bills that target pedestrians and bicyclists. For instance, a bill pending in Hawaii would fine someone $250 if he or she crossed the street with an electronic device.

“City” of Waste: Fukushima Cleanup Now Up to 10.7 Million 1-ton Bags of Radioactive Waste

“City” of Waste: Fukushima Cleanup Now Up to 10.7 Million 1-ton Bags of Radioactive Waste

by Matt Agorist, Activist Post, 27 March 2016

The fifth anniversary of the Fukushima disaster was on Friday, March 11. Since that fateful day in 2011, the Japanese government and the United States have continued to deny the lingering effects of this catastrophic event.

An estimated $21 billion has been spent on cleanup efforts since 2011, including funding for a team of remote activated robots capable of going to high-dose radiation areas of the plant where humans cannot enter and survive.

Tablets Out, Imagination In: the Schools that Shun Technology

Sarah Thorne, head of the London Acorn school, "believes taking a more considered approach to the use of technology in class allows teachers to help students develop core skills such as executive decision making, creativity and concentration – all of which are far more important than the ability to swipe an iPad or fill in an Excel spreadsheet. Besides, Thorne adds, much of the technology considered cutting edge today is likely to appear primitive in tomorrow’s world."

In the heart of Silicon Valley is a nine-classroom school where employees of tech giants Google, Apple and Yahoo send their children. But despite its location in America’s digital centre, there is not an iPad, smartphone or screen in sight.

Governments, Authorities Ignore 60+ Years of Dangers of Wi-Fi

Justin Trudeau
[Reading these last few posts, it would seem that Governments and the Authorities are indeed trying to reduce the population - through exposure to radiofrequency radiation, chemtrails, vaccine programs, GMOs... and threatening mankind and all life on earth... Their most abominable crime is that they are harming our defenseless children.]

"Since its inception in 1948, the World Health Organization has experienced almost constant turmoil and challenges. No longer enjoying secure funding from governments, it now relies on voluntary contributions from governments and other sources. Currently, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is one of the biggest contributors to WHO! Radiation regulatory agencies, electric power utilities, and the wireless/telecom industries have meticulously studied, learned from and improved upon the extremely successful, deceitful tactics employed by the tobacco industry for so many profitable decades."

Governments, Authorities Ignore 60+ Years of Dangers of Wi-Fi
by Jack O'Dwyer, odwyerpr.com, 28 March 2016

Retired Canadian Army captain Jerry Flynn,
who spent 22 years in its “Electronic Warfare” unit, is beseeching Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Canadian Medical Assn. president Dr. Chris Simpson to stop “suppressing the truth” about the dangers of Wi-Fi, Cellphones, computers, cell towers and other forms of radiation.

The Canadian government is “blind to the decades-old corruption that is ongoing within the Minister of Health’s radiation protection bureau,” he said. “Tragically, for all persons living in Canada, our provincial governments have shown themselves to be willfully silent to those of us who have made many attempts to alert them over the years.”

A Renowned Nuclear Scientist Has Published a Paper Confirming that Humans Are Being Poisoned by Traces of Aluminum Via Chemtrails

A renowned nuclear scientist has published a paper confirming that humans are being poisoned by traces of aluminium via chemtrails.

Dr. Marvin Herndon, PhD says that there is evidence of a secret government geoengineering program, injecting stratospheric particles/aerosoles into the atmosphere – endangering human health.

Wakingscience.com reports:

Dr. Marvin Herndon, PhD., a nuclear chemist, geochemist, and cosmochemist – most noted for deducing the composition of the inner core of Earth as being nickel silicide, not partially crystallized nickel-iron metal – has published a groundbreaking paper in the peer-reviewed journal Current Science (Indian Academy of Sciences) titled “Aluminum poisoning of humanity and Earth’s biota by clandestine geoengineering activity: implications for India.”
The abstract reads as follows:
[Article in full may be read here.]

“In response to an urgent call through an article in Current Science for assistance to understand the geological association of high aluminum mobility with human health in the Ganga Alluvial Plain, I describe evidence of clandestine geoengineering activity that has occurred for at least 15 years, and which has escalated sharply in the last two years. The geoengineering activity via tanker-jet aircraft emplaces a non-natural, toxic substance in the Earth’s atmosphere which with rainwater liberates highly mobile aluminum. Further, I present evidence that the toxic substance is coal combustion fly ash. Clandestine dispersal of coal fly ash and the resulting liberation of highly mobile aluminum, I posit, is an underlying cause of the widespread and pronounced increase in neurological diseases and as well as the currently widespread and increasing debilitation of Earth’s biota. Recommendations are made for verifying whether the evidence presented here is applicable to the Ganga Alluvial Plain.” (source)(source)

Maine Voices: Your Smart Meter Isn't Necessarily Safe or Healthy

"Upward of 20,000 peer-reviewed publications demonstrate adverse biological effects from low-level radiofrequency exposure."

Maine Voices: Your smart meter isn’t necessarily safe or healthy

by Ed Friedman, Special to the Press Herald, 28 March 2016

Maine lives are at risk from the noncancer effects of smart meter-induced radiofrequency radiation.

BOWDOINHAM — The title of Marina Schauffler’s recent column referring to the “wired world” (“We live in a wired world, ignoring potential threats from our devices,” March 20) is a bit misleading. The myriad of problems discussed in the piece stem from an increasingly “wireless” world. Typically, wired connections are safe – or at least far safer than radiofrequency-emitting wireless.

In this excellent column, the real electromagnetic radiation elephant in the room gets barely a mention. While the impact of cellphones, Wi-Fi and personal electronic devices results from voluntary choices (excluding secondhand effects), smart meters, by contrast, which emit radiation and gather detailed information, are mandatory.

EU Study Shows that Distraction Whilst Driving Has Become a Major Cause of Car Crashes

EU study shows that young drivers are increasing distracted whilst driving – and this has become a major cause of car crashes
deirdreclune.ie, 16 March 2016

Texting while driving makes you a staggering twenty-three times more likely to crash!

Ireland South MEP and member of the EU Transport committee Deirdre Clune has cited an EU report presented to the EU Transport committee which flags driver distraction as a growing contributing factor in road crashes. The report cites the use of Mobile phones, smart phones, GPS systems and the installation of more and more devices in cars as the primary culprits when it comes to distracting driver’s attention from the road.

The Ireland South MEP has appealed to people to put the phone down this Paddys Day weekend, “According to the Road Safety Authority of Ireland, making a call whilst driving makes you four times more likely to crash. Texting makes you a staggering twenty-three times more likely to crash!

“The EU research shows that drivers spend some 25-30% of driving time on distracting activities, of which conversation with passengers accounts for about half. A third is linked to things outside of the vehicle and about a fifth is technology related, including mobile phones. Levels of distraction among young road users are higher than those among middle-aged or older users.

United Kingdom: Fear £11bn Smart Meters Being Installed in Millions of Homes May Be Hacked

The Government is rolling out smart meters across the
country - a move predicted to add £11bn to energy bills.
But GCHQ is concerned they pose a security risk and if
hacked the UK's energy supply could be cut off.
GCHQ steps in over fear £11bn smart meters being installed in millions of homes may be HACKED - leading to gas supplies being cut off
by Sean Poulter for the Daily Mail.
20 March 2016

- Smart meters use a 12-year battery but there are concerns these could fail
- GCHQ fear hackers could turn off UK's energy supply or 'blow things up'
- Experts are concentrating on ensuring whole system cannot be shut down
- Research shows that meters make no difference to gas and electricity use

Smart meters being installed in millions of homes are at risk of failing or being hacked, which could cut off gas supplies in winter, it is claimed.

The meters use a battery which should last 12 years, however there are concerns these could fail or run down earlier.

Once the battery stops working the meter automatically shuts off the gas.

Technology experts also say the meters can be controlled remotely through Wi-Fi signals – which despite security measures, could mean hackers are able to turn off the supply.

Advisories on Wi-Fi Are Buried

LETTER: Advisories on Wi-Fi are buried
by Cecelia Doucette, telegram.com, 26 March 2016

Thank you for the Fay School lawsuit update. As former president of the Ashland Education Foundation and grant coordinator for Ashland Public Schools, I helped bring laptops, Chromebooks, iPads, etc., into our district. When an electrical engineering friend mentioned potential harm from Wi-Fi I felt morally obliged to investigate.

I learned all Wi-Fi devices operate off high levels of unshielded microwave radiation that can cause electrohypersensitivity (EHS), infertility, cancers, behavioral issues, DNA damage and more. Children and fetuses are especially vulnerable (see bioinitiative.org)

With health advisories buried in fine print (showthefineprint.org), our School Committee realized most folks, themselves included, didn’t know. Ashland Public Schools implemented Best Practices for Mobile Devices to keep safer distances and turn Wi-Fi off when not in use. I was grateful for this first step although scientists urge using only hard-wired technology. Our bodies cannot repair during sleep while fending off radiation emitted 24/7 by routers, devices, and the Worcester pilot program’s “smart” utility meters.

Canadians Leading Battle vs. Wi-Fi Pollution
by Jack O'Dwyer, odwyerpr.com, 25 March 2016

Wi-Fi pollution is “Canada’s worst crime ever against humanity” but scientists, doctors and the “sinfully silent news media” are failing to warn the public, say two Canadians.

Joe Esposito, retired Canadian Armed Forces captain who spent 22 years in its “Electronic Warfare” unit, said scientists have known for more than 50 years that wireless products are not safe.

Said Esposito: “It is preposterous but tragically true that scientists and informed people around the world fear that today’s ongoing pandemic corruption, suppression of the truth, deception and lies, aided by a sinfully silent news media—unless it somehow can be stopped—will bring about the demise of mankind and all life on earth as we know it!”

Esposito said Canada’s only hope rests with the Canadian Medical Society and its provincial chapters.

“The corrupt authorities now in Health Canada, Industry Canada and elsewhere must be routed and held legally accountable. It simply boggles the mind that such a thing could possibly be happening in Canada—all because governments everywhere refuse to learn from the previous tobacco, asbestos, Thalidomide, etc., debacles!” he said.

"We know a lot more about the molecular biology of normal and cancerous cells. But these knowledge gains have not translated into significantly longer survival times. Among the other forms of cancer that have seen little progress in terms of survival prospects since 1970 are brain tumours – a brain tumour claimed the life of Vice President Biden’s son in 2015 – and pancreatic cancers. Some commentators have argued that the only winners in this war on cancer are the companies forming the new medical-industrial complex around cancer therapy and research."

Cancer moonshot? It’s not rocket science!

Cancer Is No Moonshot

Cancer is no moonshot
by Devra Davis, blog.oup.com,
29 February 2016

A tired old elephant hunched in the room as President Obama announced the launch of a new moonshot against cancer during his State of the Union address a month ago. We’ve heard that promise before. On 23 December 1971, when President Nixon first declared a national war on cancer, he also based his conviction on the successfully completed moonwalk. In truth, what it will take to reduce the burden of cancer in our lives has little to do with what it took to land a man on the moon. That stellar accomplishment came about by spending money on existing technologies. In fact, for more than fifty years we have known a lot about how to prevent cancer, yet we remain focused on finding and treating the disease. In 1971, one in six Americans developed cancer. Today the toll is far greater, affecting one in every two men and one in every three women during their lifetimes.

Time spent playing in parks, woods and fields has shrunk dramatically due to lack of green spaces, digital technology and parents’ fears

Three-quarters of UK children spend less time outside than prison inmates, according to a new survey revealing the extent to which time playing in parks, wood and fields has shrunk. A fifth of the children did not play outside at all on an average day, the poll found.

Experts warn that active play is essential to the health and development of children, but that parents’ fears, lack of green spaces and the lure of digital technology is leading youngsters to lead enclosed lives.

United Kingdom: Mobile Phone Masts Set to Soar After Budget Boost

Mobile phone masts set to soar after Budget boost

18 March 2016

Mobile phone masts up to 25m tall are set to become a common sight across the UK after chancellor George Osborne vowed to change planning rules in an attempt to boost digital connectivity of rural areas.

The height limit for new masts will increase by 10m to 25m and masts of up to 20m will be allowed in protected areas of countryside without planning requiring approval, under proposals laid out in the Budget.

The measure was included in the “red book”, with the chancellor pledging “greater freedoms and flexibilities for the deployment of mobile infrastructure”, including “reducing planning restrictions”.

Brandon Lewis, the housing minister, said the changes were “vital for our continued economic prosperity”, in a statement released the following day.

Medical Doctor Gets Blacklisted for Telling the Truth About Depression

Medical doctor gets blacklisted for telling the truth about depression
posted by: Lori Alton, staff writer, naturalhealth365.com, 20 March 2016

(NaturalHealth365) It’s a topic that has many of her fellow psychiatrists squirming, but Dr. Kelly Brogan, M.D., did not anticipate the cold reception she received from major media with the launch of her new book, “A Mind of Your Own.” In it, she openly advocates a non-toxic treatment protocol to eliminate depression in women (and men) plus highlights the misuse of drugs as the go-to cure for mental illnesses.

Clearly, the days are past when the editorial departments of news organizations made a big deal out of separating themselves from the advertising departments. In this age of blurred lines between mainstream media and social media, and between news and advertorials, the hunt for the lion’s share of advertising dollars has left objective news coverage scarce. All the better to seek the truth from experts willing to tell the truth—like Dr. Kelly Brogan.

Google’s Loony Experiment Approved by the FCC

Google’s Loony Experiment Approved by the FCC
Global Union Against Radiation Deployment from Space
Press Release, 21 March 2016

On March 17, 2016, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) gave Google permission to conduct its Project Loon experiments in the U.S., despite evidence it will violate human rights and harm human health and the environment.

Based on details in the application, the experiments may take place at any location and any time or continuously, will pollute public and private environments indoors and outdoors in the U.S. with microwave radiation, and do not include any requirement to notify people in the area who will be exposed to an altered experimental environment.

In ignoring an evidence-packed objection filed by GUARDS to Google, Inc.’s high-altitude balloon-based project, the FCC letter announcing the approval relies on an unsupported assertion by Google, Inc. “Google states that its proposed operations present no meaningful health or environmental risks,” says the FCC.

by Jack O'Dwyer, odwyerpr.com, 23 March 2016

The 7,500+ Wi-Fi terminals that are being erected in New York bankrolled by Google, Titan Outdoor Adv. and Qualcomm (wireless company) violate privacy rights of users, says theNew York Civil Liberties Union.

NYCLU has told Mayor Bill de Blasio that the terminals, which are replacing curbside pay phones, will allow the LinkNYC to retain “a vast amount of information about users—often indefinitely.”

Users must submit email addresses and allow CityBridge, one of the companies behind the stations, to monitor what websites they visit, how long they stay on a webpage, and what other links they click on.

“The sheer volume of information gathered by this powerful network will create a massive database of information that will present attractive opportunities for hackers and for law enforcement surveillance, and will carry an undue rise of abuse, misuse and unauthorized access,” said a posting March 21 by Michael Krieter on LibertyBlitzkrieg.com.

Is Wi-Fi Killing Trees?

Is Wi-Fi Killing Trees?
by Carolanne Wright, Contributing Writer for Wake Up World, 11 November 2015

The health-damaging effects of wireless technology has been a hotly debated topic in scientific circles for years now. Linked with increased stress, brain fog, insomnia, cancer, lower sperm count, Alzheimer’s Disease, behavioral issues and developmental delays, many are questioning the daily use of Wi-Fi, cellphones, tablets, smart meters and other modern ‘necessities.’

For anyone who has first hand experience with electromagnetic sensitivity triggered by these devices, there is little doubt of their negative effect on health, mental clarity and overall well-being. Regrettably, humans aren’t the only ones negatively affected by wireless technology. Researchers in the Netherlands have found electromagnetic pollution can also harm trees.

Silent Damage

When officials in the Dutch city of Alphen aan den Rijn noticed malformations in local trees, they began to question the cause. After viral and bacterial infections were ruled out, researchers turned their attention to studying the effects of radio magnetic radiation on plant life.

According to a study by Wageningen University in the Netherlands, Wi-Fi signals could very well be responsible for the diseased trees, which exhibited bark tears, bleeding and leaves prematurely dying.

Former Nasa researcher and father of climate change awareness says melting of ice sheets could cause ‘several meters’ rise in a century, swamping coastal cities.

The current rate of global warming could raise sea levels by “several meters” over the coming century, rendering most of the world’s coastal cities uninhabitable and helping unleash devastating storms, according to a paper published by James Hansen, the former Nasa scientist who is considered the father of modern climate change awareness.

The research, published in Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, references past climatic conditions, recent observations and future models to warn the melting of the Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets will contribute to a far worse sea level increase than previously thought.

Wireless internet signals are often no stronger than a baby monitor, but that hasn’t curtailed the debate over whether Wi-Fi should be banned from the classroom.

Two teachers’ union locals in Kingston, Ontario, want their school to permanently switch off wireless internet connections over concerns the over-the-air signals post a significant health risk. Public health units across the country maintain Wi-Fi is perfectly safe, even for young children. But that hasn’t prevented various teachers unions and school boards, including the Canadian Teachers’ Federation, from calling for a moratorium on wireless use in schools if not an outright ban.

Welsh Newton woman voices concerns about phone masts after she developed severe skin rash
herefordtimes.com, 21 March 2016

A WOMAN believes a severe rash which covered her upper body was caused by radiation from a mobile phone mast.

Diana Hilary Boughton has decided to speak out about her concerns over mobile phone masts after David Cameron vowed to relax planning policy to make it easier for operators to put up masts.

The Welsh Newton resident said she suffers from electrosensitivity- a condition suffered by people who in varying degrees are made ill by connection to electricity.

Some medical professionals believe the condition is psychological.

But Ms Broughton said she is used to people being sceptical about her condition, which she said was made worse when she came within close proximity of a mast in Llangrove.

School classes resume today, Monday March 21, in Canada’s most populous province, Ontario, after the March week-long “spring break”.

But classes resume under a bit of a controversy.

Teachers in the city of Kingston Ontario say they want the WiFi in schools turned off due to health concerns.

Two teachers unions in Kingston Ontario say WiFi radiation is on the same cancer watch-list as DDT and car exhaust and that “there is increasing evidence that WiFi in the classroom is not safe”.

“WiFi emits microwave radiation and it’s linked to cancer by the World Health Organization,” said Andrea Loken, Kingston area President of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (OSSTF) said in a press release. “No teacher has consented to be exposed to this. Nor has the Board ever warned us about it,” she said.

by Lucy Johnston, Health Editor, Exclusive, express.co.uk, 13 March 2016

THE QUEEN’S former doctor is calling for an independent inquiry into controversial heart drugs statins after research found existing trial data was flawed.

Sir Richard Thompson spoke after a review into key trials concluded the pills were not effective in protecting against heart disease.

The former president of the Royal College of Physicians and personal doctor to the Queen for 21 years said: “The statin data needs to be urgently scrutinised. We are very worried about it and particularly side-effect data which seems to have been swept under the carpet.

“We have to be very wary of the doubts about statins produced by this new research and if we are wrong about widespread prescribing of this drug we have to stand up and say sorry.”

The cholesterol-busting drugs are given to up to 12 million patients in the UK, or around one in four adults.

In a new study published in the Journal of Chromatography, researchers from Poland's National Veterinary Institute have implemented a new test that allowed them to analyse exactly which of the 200 pesticides licensed for use in the EU play a role in honeybee deaths.

Their findings revealed that the bees they tested are being poisoned by 57 different pesticides. "Bee health is a matter of public concern," said lead author Tomasz Kiljanek "Bees are considered critically important for the environment and agriculture by pollinating more than 80 percent of crops and wild plants in Europe.

The Little-Known Dangers of EMFs and How To Protect You and Your Family

Geobiologist and EMF expert, Roy Riggs shares the dangers of electromagnetic fields and the key steps you can take to reduce your exposure and improve your health.  Excellent article.

The Little-Known Dangers of EMFs and How To Protect You and Your Family

Electromagnetic fields...it may sound like a bunch of mumbo-jumbo, but they are VERY real.

In fact, Electromagnetic fields (EMFs) can cause symptoms of illness in infants, children and adults, particularly those who already experience low immunity.

If you are sensitive to EMFs, you may experience symptoms like:1
- Nervous system symptoms, like fatigue, stress and sleep disturbances
- Skin symptoms, like facial prickling, burning sensations and rashes
- Body symptoms, like pains and aches in your muscles
- Eye symptoms, such as burning sensations
- Foggy thinking and depression
- A variety of less common symptoms, like ear, nose, and throat symptoms and digestive disorders
- Leukemia in children, breast cancer or cancer clusters have been linked to high exposure to EMFs2

Apple expresses intent to integrate new Li-fi technology into iPhone7, set to be released later this year with faster speeds and enhanced privacy that may undermine anti-terrorism efforts.

Li-fi, short for "light fidelity," is suddenly all the rage in the tech world after a nearly unknown French start-up demonstrated the data transfer technology in Barcelona, at the Mobile World Congress, the world’s biggest mobile device exposition, on Tuesday. The company, Oledcomm, is a pioneer of Li-fi, a technology that purports to be 100 times faster than Wi-Fi, with enhanced privacy.

Oledcomm’s founder, Suat Topsu, claimed that theoretically the device could load 200 Gigabits, or the equivalent of 23 DVDs, in one second. Topsu imagines applications for the technology well beyond smartphones, suggesting that coffee machines, washing machines, toothbrushes, and nearly any day-to-day necessity could be powered using the revolutionary wireless technology.

Micro:BITE…or Keep Children Safe From Wireless Technology

The micro:bit
"... the information provided for kids, parents and teachers alike for this new gadget, which ALL kids 11-12 years old will have very soon, lacks the information that adults need to be allowed to make an informed choice about what they should or should not allow their children access to.  It doesn’t provide any safety guidelines relating to the use of the microbit with wireless technology either in or out of the school environment, that I could easily find anyway – this in itself is irresponsible!  It hides the fact (by ommission) that Bluetooth technology, whether it’s low energy or not, emits EMF radiation on a level equal to that of weather radars, microwave ovens, mobile phones and wireless LAN. In fact it’s in the same band of frequency as that used by NASA to communicate with the Space Shuttle!"

The BBC has announced the launch of it’s ‘BBC micro:bit’ – a revolutionary palm/pocket sized portable computer which it is generously offering to provide to each and every child between the ages of 11-12 in the UK! “Great” you might think if you’re a struggling parent, “a free computer!” However, it may not be as innocent as it seems and there are many things a responsible parent needs to know that the ‘industries’ won’t tell (because they only really care about their profits, let’s face it).

Australia: Residents Harbor Radiation Fears Over NBN Towers

Pheasants Nest residents are worried about a proposed
tower which could potentially emit radiation.
Residents harbour radiation fears over NBN towers
by Peter Way, Macarthur Chronicle Wollondilly, 18 March 2016

Residents at The Oaks and Pheasants Nest have raised concerns over the impending construction of NBN towers that will boost signal strength to these areas.

Street meetings have been held by residents concerned about levels of radiation that will emanate from the towers.

Residents have written objections and made petitions based on health and visual concerns as well as a lack of consultation.

The Oaks resident Charlie Wells said a tower was to be built on a neighbouring property about 200 metres from her property.

“The radiation is in addition to that received from microwave ovens, mobile phones and medical procedures,” she said.

“There is no absolute proof that this radiation is safe in the long-term or in the lifeterm of a person.

Feeling Wonky? You Might Be Coming Down With Smartphone Sickness

“Q: Do I have a smart phone?
A: No, it has me!”

That pretty much sums up the current scenario.

So it’s no surprise if suddenly scrolling through your cell phone makes you feel sick in the stomach. Don’t blame the ridiculously sinful chocolate cake you just ‘liked’ on your newsfeed, because the technology-generated mayhem can make you feel woozy. Maybe a dull headache, dizziness or creeping nausea- these are just some of the peculiar side-effects of spending too much time on WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, or whatever the cool kids are hooked on to these days.

Preparing to Say Goodbye to Gordon

Gordon Kennedy remains in palliative care at the Flames
Rotary House.
"This is probably one of the saddest stories we have ever seen. This little baby, born on Valentine's Day this year, has glioblastoma. He is possibly the youngest ever diagnosed with GBM. From the hospice, the family have made this call for more research into childhood brain cancer... We are sincerely grateful to them for turning their tragedy into something so positive and hope that their vision of a future free of brain tumours comes true, sooner, not later." (Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada).

Environmental risks killing 12.6 million people, WHO study says
by John Vidal, The Guardian, 15 March 2016

One in four deaths avoidable as enviornmental factors contribute to over 100 diseases, with air pollution responsible for 25% of strokes and 19% of cancers

Nearly one in four deaths are linked to unhealthy environments and are avoidable, a new World Health Organisation study – the first major assessment of environmental risk since 2006 – has shown.

It suggests environmental risks now contribute to more than 100 of the world’s most dangerous diseases, injuries, and kills 12.6 million people a year – nearly one in four or 23% of all deaths.

Of these, two-thirds or 8.2m deaths are from non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as strokes, cancers and heart illnesses, a significant rise in 10 years, say the authors.

India: Chandigarh's Elite Move High Court Over Harmful Radiation

Chandigarh’s elite today sent bells of concern ringing by filing a petition in public interest before the Punjab and Haryana High Court for protecting citizens from harmful radiation emanating from mobile towers in residential areas.

Virtually slamming the powers that be for apparent disconnect between them and health concerns of the people, Anuradha Saboo, Shivani Sehgal and Tani Sehgal of Sector 5 claimed that they were alarmed at the “callous and careless manner” in which the UT Administration was permitting telecom companies to erect mobile towers in residential areas.

They were doing so with “utter disregard for the health of its citizens”. This, they contended, was in contravention of all norms, including the policies of the Administration.

Patients at hospitals across east Kent can now keep in touch with family and friends over the internet following the launch of a free wi-fi service.

A new system has been designed and installed by the east Kent hospitals trust's own IT team and is also available to visitors.

Previously patients had to rely on a good mobile signal and the potential data cost of communicating.

But already an average of 1,200 devices are being logged onto every day at hospitals in Thanet, Canterbury, Ashford and Dover, providing particular benefits for those on longer stays.

Pennsylvania: Jury Awards Two Dimock Couples $4.2 Million After Finding Cabot Oil & Gas Negligent in Fracking Contamination Case

A state investigation found that Cabot Oil & Gas had
allowed gas to escape into the region's groundwater
supplies, contaminating at least 18 residential water wells.
"What this important jury decision does... is strip away the mirage of omnipotence that Cabot and other gas companies operate behind. Fracking poisons water. That’s what the science shows. The frackers will be held responsible. That’s what this court decision shows."

Scientific Consensus Statement Reveals Monsanto’s Roundup Herbicide a Major Health Threat

Scientific Consensus Statement Reveals Monsanto’s Roundup Herbicide a Major Health Threat
by Sayer Ji, Contributing Writer for Wake Up World, 10 March 2016

A newly published scientific consensus statement on Roundup herbicide reveals exposure to this ubiquitous toxicant is increasing and valid research proving it safe is still nowhere to be found.

A powerful new review on the toxicity of glyphosate signals a growing consensus among non-industry-sponsored scientists that the relatively unmonitored and unregulated exposure to this ubiquitous toxicant can no longer be promoted as a justifiable risk. The review is open access and can be downloaded as a PDF and/or read in its entirety here.

The newly released consensus statement published in the journal Environmental Health and titled, “Concerns over use of glyphosate-based herbicides and risks associated with exposures: a consensus statement,” identified the broad spectrum herbicide glyphosate (common trade name “Roundup”) as major threat to human and environmental health.

Identified as having increased in usage 100-fold since the late 1970’s, the study predicts glyphosate usage will increase to even greater amounts due to,”widespread emergence of glyphosate-resistant weeds and new, pre-harvest, dessicant use patterns.” Oats, for example, are commonly sprayed with glyphosate as a pre-harvest dessicant, even though it is legal to label them “non-GMO,” as we recently reported on in connection with the product Cheerios.

Introducing the BBC micro:bit
The BBC unveils the BBC micro:bit, a pocket-sized codeable computer.

The BBC has unveiled the BBC micro:bit, a pocket-sized codeable computer with motion detection, a built-in compass and Bluetooth technology, which is to be given free to every child in year 7 or equivalent across the UK.

A collaboration between 29 partners, the micro:bit is the BBC's most ambitious education initiative in 30 years, with an ambition to inspire digital creativity and develop a new generation of tech pioneers.

The UK currently faces a critical skills shortage in the technology sector and the BBC and partners aim to help change that.

In the 1980s, the BBC Micro introduced many children to computing for the first time and the BBC micro:bit, part of the BBC’s 2015 Make it Digital initiative, will build on the legacy of that project for the digital age.

What Is the Danger of Electrosmog?

What is the danger of electrosmog?

Dr. Peter Källin is a specialist in family medicine and president of the association, "Doctors for the Protection of the Environment". This organization investigates the repercussions of environmental influences on our health, including non-ionizing radiation, known as electrosmog or electromagnetic pollution. "More and more evidence suggests that electromagnetic pollution, even below the limit values, is harmful to health," explains Peter Källin.

He is referring to studies where waves emitted by mobile phones modify critical cellular processes. Heavy users are at higher risk for developing a brain tumor. These conclusions, however, do not take into account the long-term consequences. As is often the case, there are also studies which achieve other results. This is still not a reason for lowering one's guard. "It is precisely because we have evidence, that prevention is the only correct response to these uncertainties", adds Dr. Källin.

Sobering statistics

Brain tumours are now the leading cancer in American adolescents, and incidence is rising in young adults according to the largest, most comprehensive analysis of these age groups to date.

Canada is undoubtedly similar. “The astounding increases reported in this study, especially in young people, mirror what I am seeing in my clinic,” responded Dr. Jacob Easaw, from the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary. “Canada is in the process of establishing a comparable brain tumour registry, so these analyses will not be available here for 15 or 20 years. I am increasingly convinced that mobile phones are a major cause, and urgent action is needed.”

Wearable Tech: Health Hazards in the Era of ‘Internet of Things’

Wearable Tech: Health hazards in the era of ‘Internet of Things’
by Dr. Rajan Pandey, M.B.B.S., M.D. Radio-Diagnosis(Schol.), nagpurtoday.in, 14 March 2016

“Can wearable computers fitness gadgets be more harmful than smoking?”

In the 1930s and 1940s, smoking became the norm for both men and women in the United States, and a majority of physicians smoked. At the same time, there was rising public anxiety about the health risks of cigarette smoking. One strategic response of tobacco companies was to devise advertising referring directly to physicians. As ad campaigns featuring physicians developed through the early 1950s, tobacco executives used the doctor image to assure the consumer that their respective brands were safe. Concurrently the Health and fitness wearables that are untested, unscientific and can be a cause for dissipated anxiety. They have already risen concerns over what is coming as an aid to health today may turn detrimental tomorrow.

“Harmful radiation emitted gadgets causes reduced sperm counts, headaches, eye irritation, loss of appetite, nausea, sleep disruption and mood swing.”

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ohio lost 112,500 jobs in 2015 resulting from the United States' trade deficit with countries that are part of the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement, according to an analysis by the Economic Policy Institute.

That places Ohio sixth, in terms of the percentage of jobs lost to trade with TPP countries, among the 50 states and the District of Columbia ranked in the report released Thursday by the liberal Washington, D.C.-based think tank. The lost jobs represent nearly 2.2 percent of employment in Ohio, according to the analysis.

The total number of lost jobs includes those directly and indirectly impacted by the trade deficit with TPP countries. It also includes the number of jobs EPI says would have been created through the multiplier or "respending" effect had trade with those countries been more balanced.
