Published Case Study Validates Link between Prolonged Skin Contact and Breast Cancers

Teton Village, WY -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/23/2013 -- For many young women today, tucking cellphones in the bra has become a cool, hip way to have easy access to these electronic devices. Women can jog, drive, shop or sit in darkened movie theaters, quickly responding to tingly vibrations at their breast. Most women have no idea that cellphones are two-way microwave radios that should not be kept directly on the body warns Environmental Health Trust (EHT), a group promoting safer phone use especially for non-adult users and for pregnant users.

“As we broach the October reminder of breast cancer awareness, the media are packed with warnings about the disease. What’s missing from this welcomed public attention is the fact that the ways some people are using their phones today increases their risk of developing breast cancer and other diseases. A cellphone’s sporadic microwave radiation seeps directly into soft fatty tissue of the breast. That’s not a good thing,” warns EHT’s founder Dr. Devra Davis, cancer epidemiologist and veteran breast cancer researcher.

News from Geneva: Not Only is the Criminal Justice System Lax, But Also the Health Care System

Following is a personal testimony of my « health care » from mid-July 2013.

17 July: Suffering from sensitivity to cold in my teeth, I saw my family dentist, Dr. J, who after examining all my teeth, could find nothing wrong. The following day, he left on vacation.

26 July : With increasing pain in my teeth and jaw, I went to the Division of Stomatology and Oral Surgery at the dental school, Faculty of Medicine, University of Geneva. After a panoramic x-ray and examination of all the teeth, the origin of the pain could not be identified.

3 August : Visit to the Emergency Room, Geneva’s University Hospital (HUG), where I waited 5 hours to see someone. I was taken up to the ENT Service, then told this was not the place to be and returned to the ER to wait another several hours to be seen by Dr. A. She recommended arranging a consultation with a doctor in the Maxillary-Facial Faculty of HUG, which I refused, just having seen my own dentist and dentists at the dental school. Dr. A could not identify the origin of the pain and sent me home with a prescription for pain-killers.

Peer-Reviewed Research Finds That 30 Minutes' Exposure to LTE (4G) Cellphone Radiation Affects Brain Activity on Both Sides of Brain

Brain images pre- and post-LTE (4G) exposure
New peer-reviewed research finds that 30 minutes’ exposure to LTE [4G] cellphone radiation affects brain activity on both sides of the brain.

The first study on the short-term effects of Long Term Evolution (LTE), the fourth generation cell phone technology, has been published online in the peer-reviewed journal, Clinical Neurophysiology. (1) - Published online 4 September 2013.

In a controlled experiment, researchers exposed the right ear of 18 participants to LTE cellphone radiation for 30 minutes. The source of the radiation was 1 centimeter from the ear, and the absorbed amount of radiation in the brain was well within international (ICNIRP) cell phone legal limits. The researchers employed a double-blind, crossover, randomized and counter-balanced design to eliminate any possible study biases. The resting state brain activity of each participant was measured by magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) at two times — after exposure to LTE microwave radiation, and after a sham exposure.

Alzheimer's Disease in Switzerland : Research and Treatment

Village in canton Bern being developed to accommodate
persons with dementia, foreseen to be completed in 4 -6 years.
According to the Swiss magazine, Hebdo (30 May 2013, no. 22), 36 million persons in the world today have Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). The disease is insidious, irreversible, and incurable. One in 10 persons is affected from age 65, and 1 in 4 from age 80. Dementia is the third cause of death after cardio-vascular disease and cancer (2009 Swiss statistics). It is projected that by 2030, world-wide, there will be 65.7 million persons with AD and 115 million by 2050. The average age of diagnosis is 65. It usually takes two years between the appearance of the first symptoms and diagnosis.

In 2010, there were 110,000 persons with AD in Switzerland, with 25,000 additional cases diagnosed each year. In 2050, it is projected there will be 300,000 cases. In 2009, the cost for care of AD patients was 7 billion Swiss francs (7.68 billion dollars).

In the United States the cost of dementia was $200 billion in 2012 and could go to as high as one trillion dollars in 2050. Only 8 out of 194 Member States of the World Health Organization have a “plan Alzheimer’s” for early diagnosis, better care of the sick, assistance for family members, and support for scientific research. Switzerland will become the ninth country to implement the plan.

Statin Use Associated with a 27% Increased Risk of Cataracts

Pharmaceutical companies have been able to downplay the risk of cataracts associated with statins for 25 years. Very few physicians ever mention this as a complication of statin therapy.

A new study published in JAMA Ophthalmology (online, Sept. 19, 2013) titled: "Association of Statin Use with Cataracts." Texas researchers compared 6,972 statin users to 6,972 nonusers.  The authors concluded: "this study found statin use to be associated with an increased risk for cataract." Specifically, they found a 27% increased risk of cataracts in statin users.

Statins and Cataracts: Why Did It Take So Long to Uncover This Connection?
People's Pharmacy, 22 September 2013

Lovastatin was the first of the new-generation statin-type cholesterol-lowering drugs on the market. It was approved by the FDA for sale in 1987. Even before the drug was approved, however, studies in dogs suggested that lovastatin might trigger cataract formation. A review in the journal Pharmacotherapy in 1987 titled "Lovastatin: A New Cholesterol-Lowering Drug" noted:

"The most common adverse effects are gastrointestinal, while the most serious are elevated transaminase levels and the potential for lens opacities."

Snowden Uncovers Shocking Truth Behind Chemtrails

Snowden uncovers shocking truth behind Chemtrails
Internet Chronicle, 17 September 2013

MOSCOW, Russia – Edward Snowden, the hacker who gained access to every secret corner of the Internet during his tenure at the NSA, has come forward with details of a classified project to alter the world’s climate. The shocking truth, as he says, is that chemtrails are part of a benevolent program aimed at countering global warming. By cooperating in secret with jet fuel manufacturers, government agents have carefully kept the massive chemtrail efforts completely under wraps.

Snowden added,

“I am only revealing this program because there is no oversight in the scientific community, no public discussion, and little concern for the side-effects which are well known only to a few privileged people interested in continuing the decades-long chemtrail program in secret.”

According to Snowden, chemtrails are the only thing keeping the US from global warming incineration, but at what price?

Overcoming Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity: A Testimonial

Overcoming Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity
A Testimonial

by Guest Blogger, Chara Brooks. EarthCalm, 30 October 2012

Two years ago, after many lab tests and much in-depth history-taking, my doctor finally diagnosed me with a disease called “electromagnetic hypersensitivity”. What a relief!

I had so many different symptoms—from headaches to digestive problems to sleeping difficulties to rashes—that it had been a mystery to him what it could be I was suffering from. And I was worn out with dealing with all these symptoms for so many years.

But he’d done his research. He’d discovered that there’s a new disease that doctors are recognizing more and more these days: electromagnetic hypersensitivity—also known as electrosensitivity or EMF sensitivity.

Breast cancer occurring in women under the age of 40 is uncommon in the absence of family history or genetic predisposition, and prompts the exploration of other possible exposures or environmental risks. We report a case series of four young women—ages from 21 to 39—with multifocal invasive breast cancer that raises the concern of a possible association with nonionizing radiation of electromagnetic field exposures from cellular phones. All patients regularly carried their smartphones directly against their breasts in their brassieres for up to 10 hours a day, for several years, and developed tumors in areas of their breasts immediately underlying the phones. All patients had no family history of breast cancer, tested negative for BRCA1 and BRCA2, and had no other known breast cancer risks. Their breast imaging is reviewed, showing clustering of multiple tumor foci in the breast directly under the area of phone contact. Pathology of all four cases shows striking similarity; all tumors are hormone-positive, low-intermediate grade, having an extensive intraductal component, and all tumors have near identical morphology. These cases raise awareness to the lack of safety data of prolonged direct contact with cellular phones.

A Number of People Buying the Newest iPhone Model Now May Well End Up With Serious Health Problems Later

“The iPhone carries social value”. What about health risks? Apparently, color and cost trump health. Anything to lure people into buying the latest iPhone model … When will humanity wake up? Probably when it is too late. A number of the people buying the newest model now may well end up with serious health problems later, including brain tumors.
Will New iPhone Colors Create A Hierarchy Among Users?
by Rachel Quester, npr.org, 14 September 2013

After Apple's announcement this week, choosing which iPhone to buy won't be such a black-and-white decision.

Buyers now have a cheaper, albeit more colorful option in the iPhone 5c (starting at $99, with a contract), which comes in white, blue, pink, green or yellow. Deciding to go with the newest top-of-the-line model, the iPhone 5s ($199 and up), means picking between gold, silver, or even "space gray." MIAMI — The clues were buried in her bedroom. Before leaving for school on Monday morning, Rebecca Ann Sedwick had hidden her schoolbooks under a pile of clothes and left her cellphone behind, a rare lapse for a 12-year-old girl.

Inside her phone’s virtual world, she had changed her user name on Kik Messenger, a cellphone application, to “That Dead Girl” and delivered a message to two friends, saying goodbye forever. Then she climbed a platform at an abandoned cement plant near her home in the Central Florida city of Lakeland and leaped to the ground, the Polk County sheriff said.

Breast Cancer Prevention Strategies

Curcuma aromatica - curcumin can be
a very useful adjunct in breast cancer
As we approach October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we will be posting a series of articles on the subject, focused on prevention. Here is an extract from an article by Dr. Mercola, “Can You Cut Your Breast Cancer Risk by Skipping Mammograms?”, 2 March 2013. The latter part of the article has excellent advice on breast cancer prevention strategies. Click here for the article in full.

Breast Cancer Prevention Strategies

Cancer screening does NOT equate to cancer prevention, and although early detection is important, using a screening method that in and of itself increases your risk of developing cancer is simply not good medicine... Preventing breast cancer is far more important and powerful than simply trying to detect it after it has already formed, which is why I want to share my top tips on how to help prevent this disease in the first place.

A Dangerous Game: GPs Prescribing Psychotropics

A Dangerous Game: GPs Prescribing Psychotropics
by Victoria L. Dunckley, M.D. in Mental Wealth, 11 March 2013

Is it dangerous to have a general practitioner prescribe psychiatric medication?

What are the dangers of obtaining psychotropic medications from a primary care provider?

Most of the time, patients approach their general practitionerfirst to seek help for mental health related complaints. If it’s a fairly straightforward case, the GP is usually able to address the situation appropriately. The problem arises when a more serious mental health condition is brewing, or there is a safety concern. The patient has a ten or fifteen minute appointment to describe their complaints--compared to a one or two hour session or multiple sessions with a psychiatrist or psychologist. The patient typically wants some action to be taken immediately, and the doctor only knows what the patient tells them. The physician feels pressure to do something to provide some relief, and voila—the patient walks out with a prescription (or two).

Why Cell Phone Towers Are So Bad For Your Health

"The Precautionary Principle or Principle of Prevention needs to be followed whenever there is a possibility of harm to human health an exposure rises."

Why Cell Phone Towers Are So Bad For Your Health?
by Dr. M. Sirish, The Big Picture, 1st October 2010

Cell phones heat the brain while users make and receive calls. Cell phones scramble the brain and play havoc with the nervous system. This can cause high blood pressure, which leads to strokes. If cell phones are used for longer periods of time, they can damage long-term memory and even cause brain tumor [1-2]. On the other hand, cell towers are considered more harmful to people particularly those living within the radius of 500 meters as they continuously emit electromagnetic radiation (EMR) 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, and 365-days an year [3-5]. Towers emit radio-frequencies (RF), a form of EMR, which is essentially the same frequency radiation as microwaves and microwave ovens, for a distance as large as two miles. Low levels of radiation emitted by mobile phone towers are harmful. Scientists at the School of Public Health of Harvard University say that the radiation from cell phone towers is a serious health hazard [6].

Studies have shown that low levels of radiation can cause brain tumor, cancer, depression, miscarriage, insomnia, Alzheimer’s disease, apart from damaging cell tissues and the DNA. People living close to mobile towers will have disturbed sleep, headache and their immune system could be affected. The nearby apartments could become very hot. Television displays could show flickering images. Massive increase in radiation in the environment due to these towers is associated with increase in the incidence of diseases such as asthma, learning disabilities, anxiety disorders, attention deficit disorder (ADD), autism, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), epilepsy, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, cataracts, hypothyroidism, diabetes, malignant melanoma, testicular cancer, heart attacks and strokes [7-13]. Although radiation exposed by a person during a mobile phone call is 10 times higher than the exposure from a cell tower, mere standing in a wi-fi enabled area is equal to talking on your mobile for 20 minutes [14].

magnetic radiation from cell phone towers.

Understanding the Health Risk of Google Glass Electromagnetic Radiation Emissions

Having these technologies in such close proximity to brains
and eyes is untested for medium- and long-term health
effects and represents use-cases not considered by
existing FCC regulations on wireless devices.
"Google is selling a product that is untested as to the long-term human health effects."

Understanding The Health Risk of Google Glass EMF Emissions
by R. Blank, 22 July 2013 in Technology

The first part of this article describes how cell phone radiation exposures are measured. It then goes on to answer these other questions:

What are the risks of cell phones?
How do EMF emissions from Glass compare to cell phones?
What is the relative risk of using technology like Google Glass compared to an iPhone?

Regarding the risks of Google Glass: the device is strapped to the head. Its computer is very close to the temple and eye, two parts of the head that are the most vulnerable to damage from EMF radiation. Finally, the form factor and supported use-cases of Glass encourage one to keep the device on for hours at a time. Since there is no airplane mode (or other means to disable wireless communication) that means users are receiving continuously variable doses of microwave radiation, to their brains and eyes, for hours at a time.

Click here for article in full.

What are the Risks of Cell Phones?

Well, first, it is important to reiterate that, because of varying levels of radiation and exposure, there is no way to know what your exposures are (and thus, what your actual risk might be), just from saying “I use my iPhone to make calls for an hour a day.”

Highlights from “Cell Phones & WiFi—Are Children, Fetuses and Fertility at Risk?”

The program was dedicated to the late Ronald B. Herberman, Founding Director of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, Vice Chancellor of Cancer Research at University of Pittsburgh and the first head of an NCI funded cancer center to speak out on the risks from cell phones. He issued a warning of these risks to his 3,000 employees, addressed Congress, and, regarding inaccurate media reporting on cell phone radiation health risks in the Economist, Dr. Herberman said:

“A disservice has been done in inaccurately depicting the body of science, which actually indicates that there ARE biological effects from the radiation emitted by wireless devices, including damage to DNA, and evidence for increased risk of cancer and other substantial health consequences…The public the world over has been misled by this reporting.”

Clinical Manifestations of Reactions to Microwave Radiation : Paper Presented at International Symposium on "Biologic Effects and Health Hazards of Microwave Radiation", Warsaw, October 1973

We are looking for documents dating from before 1980 about the health effects of microwave radiation. Thanks to Citizens for Safe Technology, we have found one paper by M.N. Sadtikova of the Academy of Medical Sciences, USSR [former Russia]. This was part of the proceedings of an international symposium – “Biologic Effects and Health Hazards of Microwave Radiation” – which took place in Warsaw, Poland, 15-18 October 1973, sponsored by WHO, U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare, Scientific Council to the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Poland. This is deeply troubling because 40 years ago, WHO, the United States authorities and Russia were already aware of the non-thermal biological effects of microwave radiation. Today, WHO and the health authorities of most countries refuse to acknowledge the biological effects of this radiation, which is being emitted by wireless technology (cell phones, mobile phone antennas, Wi-Fi), seriously jeopardizing our health, especially that of children and pregnant women.

These Persons, Sick from Electromagnetic Waves, Who "Survive"

These persons, sick from electromagnetic waves, who "survive"
by Audrey Garric, journalist for Le Monde.fr
30 August 2013 (translated from French) See original article in French here:  " Ces malades des ondes électromagnétiques, qui 'survivent' "

They suffer from headaches, burns, insomnia or tachycardia, symptoms they attribute to waves from mobile phones, Wi -Fi networks or antennas. These people, called electrohypersensitive (EHS), an unrecognized disease in France, have developed a more or less severe intolerance to electromagnetic fields to the extent that they need to increase medical consultations, redo their homes, wear protection, and sometimes flee civilization.

On 26, 27 and 28 August , they met in the secluded valley of Boulc (Drôme) to request the “urgent” establishment of white zones, free of radiofrequency. Portraits of these people sick from waves :
